The Isautier family history on Reunion Island spans nearly two centuries. Our ancestors created the oldest distillery on the island in operation to this day. Our company has achieved benchmark status for Réunion Island rums through our historical pre-eminence and authenticity. We are hugely proud of our deep roots on the island, but the same time, we are very much a forward-looking company, through our continuous innovation and desire to win over the world! Our dynamism is shaped by our diverse and talented teams, the dedicated sugar cane planters and the island’s rich terroir, with its array of exotic fruits and spices. Each day, with our local partners, we strive to encapsulate the soul and intensity of Réunion Island in every Isautier bottle. This is the very spirit of Isautier.

Each Isautier rum captures the very essence of Renion Island
A special experience
A rum with the intense flavours of a volcanic island – La Réunion – rising dramatically in the midst of the Indian Ocean. A rum with a family pedigree dating back seven generations to 1845. A rum of outstanding and uncompromising quality. This is our passion.
We invite you to make each encounter with Isautier something rather special: a sensational taste experience, of course, but also an adventure to the heart of this magnificent island, with its rich history, diverse culture and zest for life – making the island what it is today and known across the globe. This is our inspiration.
A long history
The Isautier family put down roots on this exceptional terroir nearly two centuries ago: ours is the oldest distillery and longest established business on Reunion Island today. This underpins our dedication and sense of responsibility – which extends beyond the world of rum. Our long heritage has an inspiring influence in our new creations, which remain truly authentic, showcasing our unique fresh, fruity style of rum with its characteristic notes of ocean spray. This distinguishes our family brand and has enabled Isautier to achieve global renown and acclaim.
A strong commitment
This infinitely fascinating island – with its incredible biodiversity and people – also deserves the highest esteem for its rich local culture and values. For the Isautier family and partners, this governs our modus operandi. Throughout the production process of our rums – from the sugar cane through to the bottle – meticulous sourcing and monitoring ensure the highest quality for each of our products. Innovation and research are also at the heart of our business and we celebrate the diversity and richness of the island’s treasures in our wide product range (white rums, old rums, “arrangés”, “douceurs d’arrangé” and rum liqueurs). And finally, we seek to further deepen our commitment though our social and environmental vision.
A creative heritage
Isautier is proud to have supported – and to continue supporting – Reunion Island artisans, as well as numerous local artists (including Meddy Gerville, Firmin Viry, Charly Lesquelin and Alice Aucuit) in the spheres of music, painting, theatre, gastronomy and the arts in general – and some are invited in to practice in residence. To celebrate 175 years since the founding of the Isautier company, a restoration project was launched for “la case” (“house” in Creole) – which is the Isautier family home. It is a characterful, historical residence and part of the island’s heritage. At home and across the globe, the immense pride in the island’s cultural heritage is embodied in every bottle of Isautier rum.
A diverse culture
Inaugurated in 2008, “La Saga du Rhum” is a museum which is located at the Isautier distillery at Saint-Pierre. The museum portrays the island’s rich diversity through a fascinating cultural and sensory journey featuring the history of Réunion Island, its inhabitants and the tradition of producing rum. Highlights include: the colonisation of Bourbon Island (as it was formerly known); the first still; the beginnings of large scale rum production; the abolition of slavery; the regulations concerning the rum designation and the stories of traditional rum and agricultural rum… Since it first opened, the museum has welcomed some 350,000 visitors.
